Bar Magda

Bar Magda is an underground Auckland bar and restaurant specializing in modern Filipino cuisine paired with thoughtful cocktails and curated wines. Located at 25B Cross Street in Newton, just off Karangahape Road, the intimate venue was co-founded by Chef Carlo Buenaventura and Bar Man Matt Venables. Celebrated for bold flavors and genuine hospitality, Bar Magda earned recognition as best new restaurant by Denizen (2022), achieved one hat in Cuisine Good Food Awards (2023–2025), and was featured in Metro's top 50 restaurants and Lonely Planet.
