Downstairs at the Esquire Tavern is a sophisticated speakeasy-lounge located at 155 East Commerce Street, accessible by a candlelit staircase leading down from the Esquire Tavern above. Since opening in September 2016, the venue has offered an expertly curated wine, beer, and sherry list alongside oysters, house-cured meats, and cheeses. Intricate wood carvings divide the intimate downstairs into two dining rooms with carefully controlled lighting. The space features capacity for 15 guests, plus two semi-private lounges accommodating 30 each. Open Wednesday through Friday 5 PM to midnight/2 AM and Saturday from 6 PM onward, Downstairs specializes in sherry, bubbles, and charcuterie in a refined late-night setting.
