Wormwood

Wormwood is San Diego's first absinthe-focused cocktail bar and restaurant, opened in 2021 in the University Heights neighborhood by Amar Harrag, founder of the acclaimed Tahona Bar in Old Town. The venue features a vintage Parisian design with a brick-walled courtyard, patio, and semi-private event space called "Le Jardin Secret," creating an immersive Belle Époque atmosphere enhanced by live jazz on Sundays. The restaurant serves French cuisine with dishes crafted with passion, paired with curated wines and signature cocktails that celebrate absinthe's storied heritage. Wormwood offers weekend brunch from 10:00 am–2:00 pm and dinner service throughout the week, along with happy hour Wednesday–Sunday from 5:00 pm–6:00 pm, accommodating both casual dining and private events.
